Policy, Advocacy and Standards

Policy Positions & Statements

ITAG plays a pivotal role in shaping ICT policy and regulatory frameworks in Ghana. We develop comprehensive policy positions, provide evidence-based recommendations, and actively engage with government agencies, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure the ICT sector’s interests are represented. Our policy statements cover areas such as digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, data protection, e-governance, and emerging technologies. These positions are disseminated to members, partners, and the public to foster informed dialogue and effective decision-making.

Standards & Best Practices

We promote the adoption of ICT standards and best practices to enhance service quality, interoperability, and cybersecurity resilience. ITAG publishes guidelines and resources for members on standards compliance, risk management, and responsible technology use. This includes guidance on cloud computing, software development, ICT governance, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and fintech applications.

Policy Development

Secretariat drafts policy positions in consultation with SIGs and relevant committees. NEC reviews and approves policy submissions. Final positions communicated to members, government agencies, and stakeholders.

Regulatory Engagement

ITAG maintains continuous engagement with key regulatory bodies, including the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, National Communications Authority, and other relevant institutions. We contribute to consultations, provide expert advice on draft regulations, and advocate for policies that encourage innovation, competition, and equitable access to ICT services across Ghana. By doing so, we ensure that member concerns are considered in national ICT policy development.

Research & Publications

ITAG undertakes research initiatives to generate data-driven insights on the ICT sector. We publish white papers, industry reports, surveys, and analytical studies that inform policy, business strategies, and technology adoption. Our publications serve as reference materials for members, government agencies, academia, and development partners.

Advocacy Campaigns

Through advocacy campaigns, ITAG raises awareness on critical ICT issues and promotes public dialogue on technology-driven development. We organize forums, workshops, and events that bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society to address sectoral challenges, propose solutions, and advance Ghana’s digital agenda.
